How to Save Instagram Photos and Videos on Android

Instagram currently doesn’t allow you to download media directly from the app. The closest thing you’ll get is the “saved posts” feature which is still pretty neat as it allows you to keep a private album of photos in a tab within your profile.

However, if you want to save Instagram photos and videos to view offline, you need to use a third-party app. The one I use is called Instasave—a free app that allows you to download media from any public profile. I like this one because it doesn’t involve any hassle whatsoever. I’ve used a few other apps that are similar but they require you to do extra things. Instasave is very simple and does exactly what it’s supposed to do.

To install, just visit the Play Store and search up “Instasave” and select the first one that comes up. Once it’s installed, open the app and you should see a toggle switch. Click it and Instasave will be activated.

Now press the “open Instagram” and the app should open. If you want to save Instagram photos, just find a picture, click on the three dots in the top-right corner, and select “copy share URL.” You’ll notice in your notification bar that the picture is downloading.

To save Instagram videos, follow the exact same steps as above and a video download will appear in your notification bar.

Now, I mentioned earlier that it only works on “public” profiles which means that Instasave will not work on pictures or videos from any accounts that are set to private.

To access the saved files, just visit your gallery and you’ll find a new folder in there that’s labeled “Instasave.” You can also view the downloaded files in the Instasave app itself.

Here’s a video to show how the app works:

  1. Nice read, I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing a little research on that. And he actually bought me lunch because I found it for him smile Therefore let me rephrase that: Thank you for lunch!
